Dennis Talbert
Rev. Dennis Talbert is President of Michigan Neighborhood Partnership (MNP) a community organization started in 1993 by the University of Michigan to assist in building capacity of community and neighborhood organizations. As President of MNP, Dennis has launched an aggressive campaign to connect community and faith-based organizations to serving high-risk youth in the Detroit area. This includes Project SOARS a non-school hour program operating in collaboration with over 50 churches serving over 1000 Detroit students in the academic areas of Math and Reading. He also founded Empower Outreach, a faith-based service agency providing mentoring and youth development programs for at-risk and high-risk youth. In addition to its youth programs, Empower Outreach provides youth worker professional development, technical assistance to community and faith-based agencies in working with high-risk youth, and conducts research and evaluation in the area of urban youth development, community and family related issues. Dennis is a board member for Detroit Manpower Movement, an organization dedicated to recruiting male mentors for Detroit area mentoring organizations and has consulted on a statewide initiative on the needs of high-risk and foster care youth. Dennis holds an M.B.A. from Wayne State University and a certificate in non-profit maangement from the University of Michigan School of Business.
